Updated:

The route crosses Mallorca and ends on the east coast

Porto Cristo is not next to Manacor, even though it belongs to the same municipality. The drive from PMI crosses the interior towards Manacor and still has some 12 km to go to the coast before reaching the harbour.

Manacor is a waypoint, not the end of the journey

Booking Manacor when you are staying in Porto Cristo would leave the last stretch to the coast unresolved. The two towns have different hotels and roles.

The direct drive from PMI is currently around 48 minutes, although traffic, season and the final address can change the real time.

Harbour, beach or caves: where in Porto Cristo is your hotel?

Porto Cristo grew around a very sheltered bay, but its hotels and sights are not on a single street. The beach, the harbour, the Caves of Drach and the hotels on the roads out of town are different reference points.

Bay

Harbour and beach

The beach sits next to the fishing and leisure harbour, right in town: the most central reference.

Caves

Carretera de les Coves

The Caves of Drach are in this area, and several hotels are closer to them than to the seafront.

South exit

Cala Anguila and Cala Mendia

Nearby but separate coastal resorts. A hotel there needs its own address and should not be booked as central Porto Cristo.

The hotels themselves show this spread

THB Felip faces the seafront, Portodrach is on Passeig del Cap des Toi and other establishments sit on the road to the caves. The full hotel name keeps the drop-off precise.

Porto Cristo and Manacor are different trips

Porto Cristo belongs to the municipality of Manacor, but treating the two names as interchangeable causes practical mistakes. Manacor is an inland town; Porto Cristo is its natural harbour and one of the main resorts on the coast.

Inland

Manacor

The urban centre of the Llevant, about 12 km from Porto Cristo.

Coast

Porto Cristo

Fishing and leisure harbour, beach, holiday accommodation and some of the best-known caves on the island.

Hotels: three locations with different arrivals

The town's official accommodation list shows that hotels are not concentrated at one point round the bay.

Seafront

THB Felip

At Carrer d'en Bordils 41, facing the sea and the harbour; the hotel says the Caves of Drach are less than a kilometre away.

Harbour

Apartaments Portodrach

The municipal guide places them at Passeig del Cap des Toi 25, in another part of the harbour area.

Caves area

Hotels on Ctra. de les Coves

Some accommodation lies towards the edge of town on the caves road, away from the beach.

Caves, harbour and watchtower help you place each area

Nature

Caves of Drach

About 2.4 km of caverns in Porto Cristo, with Lake Martel inside, the town's headline sight.

Harbour

Natural harbour

The town grew round a well-sheltered inlet that still has fishing and leisure boats next to the town beach.

Heritage

Torre dels Falcons

A 1577 watchtower at the end of Avinguda Joan Servera Camps, on the high ground south of the bay.

Underground

Caves of Hams

Another major cave complex, in a different part of town from the Caves of Drach.

Centre

Passeig de la Sirena

Facing the sea and the beach, one of the main landmarks of central Porto Cristo.

Beach

Porto Cristo beach

Right next to the harbour, about 300–350 metres long according to the official tourist information.
