50–60 km
On the M1 to the centre
Many easyJet, Wizz Air and Ryanair flights reach Luton early in the morning or close to midnight. Zonetransfers has a driver waiting with your name at the terminal exit and a car that takes the M1 straight to your hotel: from €109 per vehicle to King's Cross or Bloomsbury, the same price at 7:00 as at 1:00.
To get from Luton Airport to central London by private car, your driver collects you as you leave baggage reclaim and enters the city from the north: M1 to Brent Cross, then Finchley Road or the A1 depending on the district. King's Cross takes 50 to 75 minutes and Westminster 60 to 85; prices start at €109 per car for one to four travellers with their luggage.

Unlike Heathrow or Gatwick, Luton sits above the capital on the map. Camden, Hampstead and King's Cross come first on the route, while Chelsea or Battersea mean crossing the whole city, so they cost a little more.

Fares from Luton are set by London area, listed here from north to south. Find the first part of your postcode (NW3, WC1, SE1 and so on) to see the driving time and the starting price for a car carrying up to four people.

Luton is a base for easyJet, Wizz Air and Ryanair, with routes all over Europe. That means late landings and pre-dawn departures, exactly when getting around is hardest.
If the plane lands at 23:40 or slips past one in the morning, the driver follows the real arrival time and waits up to 60 minutes free.
For an early flight the car reaches your hotel at the agreed time, middle of the night included, and stops outside terminal departures.
With hand luggage only you are out sooner. Mention it when booking and the driver will be in the hall from the moment you touch down.
Luton has a single passenger building, and every arrival exits on the ground floor, so there are no terminals to mix up. Many passports, including EU and US ones, can use the eGates at border control.
Your flight number tells us if you are early or late.
As you come out into the arrivals hall, the driver is holding a sign with your name.
The car waits in the pick-up car park, a few minutes on foot from the door.
No other passengers: airport to hotel, flat or station in one go.
Your voucher shows a support number open 24 hours. Call it or message +34 654 381 547 on WhatsApp and we will tell you exactly where the driver is. Most visa-free visitors, EU citizens included, also need a UK ETA before travelling; Irish citizens are exempt.
Beyond London, we drive from Luton to towns in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, to the other London airports and to the Harry Potter studios, 35 minutes away. Prices are per vehicle.

Landing at Luton and flying again from another London airport? Give us your second departure time and we set the pick-up with room for check-in and security. Allow at least 3 hours for Heathrow or Stansted, 3 h 30 min for London City and 4 h 30 min for Gatwick.
Plenty of travellers landing at Luton are not going to central London at all. These are the trips they book with us most, and the ones where a car makes most sense.
The Great Hall and Diagon Alley sets. Tickets are timed, so book the car to arrive 20 minutes early.
Concerts and cup finals 40 minutes from Luton. We stop as close as the day's road closures allow.
Designer outlet with more than 150 shops, less than an hour from the airport.

Any address works as a destination. These six hotels are well placed for anyone arriving from the north:
Red-brick Victorian landmark attached to the Eurostar terminal.
Eight-storey glass atrium, steps from Regent's Park.
1885 building between Trafalgar Square and the Thames.
Opened in 1889, with its own entrance road at Savoy Court beside the theatres.
Opposite the stadium and OVO Arena.
Estate with golf and spa, 15 minutes from the Harry Potter studios.
Low-cost flights carry a lot of groups: stag weekends, sports teams, school trips. Instead of several taxis, one minivan or minibus takes everyone together from the Luton terminal.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Standard car | 1–4 | Two large cases plus hand luggage |
| Executive saloon | 1–3 | Business travel and clients |
| Minivan | 5–8 | Stag and hen parties, big families, teams with kit |
| Minibus | 9–16 | Charter groups, schools, events |
| Coach | 17+ | Large groups, quoted on request |

For larger groups, Zonetransfers arranges a coach from the airport. See the fleet or minibus and coach hire with driver in London.
Most Luton departures are European flights, so aim to be at the terminal two hours before take-off. Leaving from the West End, that means a pick-up 3 h 15 min before departure.
| Starting from | Drive | Pick-up before take-off |
|---|---|---|
| Hampstead or Camden | 50 min | 3 h |
| King's Cross or Bloomsbury | 65 min | 3 h 15 min |
| Soho, Mayfair or Westminster | 75 min | 3 h 15 min |
| The City or Shoreditch | 80 min | 3 h 30 min |
| Kensington or Chelsea | 85 min | 3 h 30 min |
| Canary Wharf or Stratford | 90 min | 3 h 30 min |
Before 7:00 the M1 is clear and the drive is about 15 minutes shorter, but Luton security fills up with the first wave of departures, so keep the two-hour margin. Payment is online, and cars and minivans can be cancelled free up to 48 hours before (96 hours for minibuses and coaches). Terms of sale.
