Home to the Bizkaia Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006.
Santurtzi is a working fishing town at the mouth of the Nervión estuary, facing the Cantabrian Sea and known locally as the "sardine capital". It is also the terminus of Metro Bilbao Line 2, making it practical for travellers who stay in Santurtzi and continue into Bilbao by public transport. Your airport transfer is private, chauffeur-driven and booked at a fixed price.
Santurtzi is a maritime and fishing town rather than a conventional beach resort. Its seafront retains a strong fishing identity, with the waterfront and the monument to "la Sardinera" reflecting the town's long connection with the sale of fresh sardines in Bilbao. If your priority is swimming or a traditional beach holiday, nearby Uribe Kosta destinations offer a different type of coastal setting.

Santurtzi station is the terminus of Metro Bilbao Line 2, with a direct connection to the city centre in just over twenty minutes. This can be useful if Santurtzi is your base and you plan to visit Bilbao during your stay: after the airport transfer, the metro provides a low-cost way to continue travelling around the city.
The route from Bilbao Airport to Santurtzi follows the A-8 towards the left bank of the Nervión estuary rather than taking you through central Bilbao. The journey is around 26 km and takes approximately 30 minutes by private transfer. Santurtzi is therefore one of the shorter routes from BIO towards the left bank, alongside destinations such as Portugalete and Barakaldo.

Santurtzi is primarily a fishing town with a seafront rather than a traditional bathing beach destination. For a beach setting, nearby Uribe Kosta locations such as Bakio offer a different option.
