Vehicle size
A 19-seat minibus and a 54-seat coach are priced differently.
Hiring a minibus or coach with a driver in Oviedo means your group travels together, in a vehicle and with a driver reserved just for you, at a price agreed before you set off. Zonetransfers handles everything from a 19-seat minibus for a wedding to a fleet of coaches for a conference at the Calatrava centre.
Tell us how many of you there are, the day, the timings and the route, and we send a tailored quote covering vehicle, driver and fuel. Once accepted, it does not change even if the day runs late because of traffic.

Many English-speaking visitors search for a minibus to drive themselves, then run into the catch: in Spain and the rest of the EU, a vehicle with more than eight passenger seats requires a D1 or D licence, which most standard car licences do not include.
| Hire with driver | Self-drive minibus | |
|---|---|---|
| Licence needed by your group | None | D1 or D for over eight passenger seats |
| Drinking at the wedding or cider house | Everyone can | The driver cannot |
| Parking in Oviedo's old town | Driver drops you at the door | You find and pay for parking |
| Mountain roads to Covadonga | Driven by someone who knows them | Driven by a member of your group |
| Fuel, insurance and deposit | Included in one fixed price | Paid separately, plus deposit |
For groups of five to eight, a people carrier is enough: see our car hire with driver in Oviedo or private transfers from Oviedo. Photos and capacities in our fleet.
The right size depends on numbers and luggage. If you are torn between two sizes, tell us the plan and we will recommend the one that fits.
| Seats | Vehicle | Ideal for | Luggage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 – 19 | Minibus | Small weddings, work teams, pilgrim groups, stag and hen parties | Rear luggage space or trailer, depending on model |

| 36 – 54 | Full-size coach | Conferences, company trips, sports teams, cruise groups | Large hold for suitcases and kit |
| Over 54 | Several coaches working together | Big events and multi-venue conferences | One coordinator for every vehicle |

It depends on vehicle size, hours of service, mileage and date, so we prepare a tailored quote for every group. It covers the vehicle, driver and fuel and, on multi-day trips, the driver's accommodation. To fine-tune it, tell us how many you are, the route, rough timings and whether the driver needs to wait between journeys.
Not one with more than eight passenger seats. Across the EU, minibuses carrying nine or more passengers require a D1 or D licence, which standard car licences do not include. Hiring with a driver solves it: the driver holds the right licence, knows the roads and your group can relax, including at the wedding or the cider house.
We work with minibuses of 9 to 19 seats, midi coaches of 20 to 35 and full-size coaches of up to 54. For larger groups we coordinate several coaches leaving at the same time. Five to eight people only need a people carrier, booked as a car with driver or as a private transfer from Oviedo.
For a midweek job a few days is usually enough. Saturdays from May to October, because of weddings, and dates such as San Mateo or the Princess of Asturias Awards are best booked one or two months ahead. For conferences needing several coaches, the earlier the better, as availability is limited.
Yes. The coach meets your group at the El Musel cruise terminal in Gijón and takes you to Oviedo's old town, the Pre-Romanesque churches, Covadonga or the coast. Tell us the ship's arrival and all-aboard times and we plan the day with a safe margin, so your group is back on board in good time.
Yes, it is one of the most requested routes. The coach leaves Oviedo, passes through Cangas de Onís and climbs to Covadonga. From Easter to October private vehicle access to the Lakes is restricted at peak times, so the group continues on the park's own transport and the coach waits at the connection point.
Yes. The minibus or coach waits for your group in arrivals, with flight tracking so the time adjusts if you are delayed, and takes you to your hotel in Oviedo, Gijón or anywhere else. The airport is about 45 km (28 miles) from Oviedo, roughly 35 minutes on the A-66 and A-8.
Yes. We run group tours across Asturias, Galicia, Castile and León or Portugal, with the driver at your disposal throughout. The quote includes the driver's accommodation and meals. Send us your planned itinerary day by day and we will propose timings that respect the driver's compulsory rest and leave room for visits.
Yes. Give us the company name, tax ID and registered address when booking and the invoice reaches your inbox after the service. Companies, schools, societies and agencies with regular bookings can request special terms through our professional area, with a single contact for all bookings and monthly invoicing if needed.
Cancellation is free up to 96 hours before the service. If your numbers, timings or route change, message us on WhatsApp and we will adjust the vehicle or the quote. For large events with several coaches, we agree confirmation deadlines with the organiser ahead of the event, along with the final number of vehicles.
Tell us how many of you there are, the date, timings and route, and Zonetransfers sends a fixed quote with the right vehicle for your group.
