Covadonga and the Lakes
Basilica, the Holy Cave and lakes Enol and Ercina.
Taking a group up to Covadonga, running shore excursions for a ship docked at El Musel, moving delegates to the FIDMA fair or bringing wedding guests to a country manor near Villaviciosa? Zonetransfers matches a vehicle to your 9 to 54 travellers, and the single price we quote already covers the chauffeur, diesel and insurance. Expect it in your inbox within 12 hours.
Gijón sits midway along the Asturian coast, so most of the region is within two hours. These are the outings groups book most, with approximate one-way drive times.
Basilica, the Holy Cave and lakes Enol and Ercina.
Spain's most famous gorge walk.
Cathedral and UNESCO pre-Romanesque churches.
Colourful houses tumbling down to the harbour.
Painted breakwater cubes and Tito Bustillo cave art.
Fossil trackways and a clifftop village.
Cider houses and a tiny fishing port.
Medieval arcades and a modernist landmark.
In the busiest months, the road up to the Lakes has restrictions and organised groups must follow the access scheme in force that season. When we quote, we explain how to fit the group's timetable around it.
Cruise ships calling at Gijón berth at El Musel port, a few kilometres from the city centre. A private minibus or coach meets your group at the quay and brings everyone back with a safe margin before all-aboard time.
Cimavilla, the seafront and Oviedo's cathedral quarter.
Basilica, Holy Cave and, where access allows, the Lakes.
Fishing harbour and the Niemeyer Centre.
Let us know the vessel, the day it calls at Gijón and when passengers must be back on board; we build the outing around those times.
Tell us the number of people and how much luggage or kit you carry; twenty people off on a week-long tour carry far more than twenty on an afternoon outing.
| Passengers | Vehicle | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 4 | Standard car (sedan) | Gijón private transfers |
| 5–8 | Minivan (people carrier) | Families, golf groups, small parties |
| 9–19 | Minibus | Day trips, business visitors, cruise groups |
| 20–35 | Midi coach | Schools, clubs, wedding guests |
| 36–54 | Full-size coach | Tours, conferences, supporters |
Minibus for coastal and mountain day trips.
54-seat coach for longer tours of northern Spain.
If a traveller uses a wheelchair or you would like a toilet on board, flag it when you enquire; we check which vehicle free on your dates offers it. Model details: our fleet.
We do not publish a single figure, because each job is different: you get a fixed quote for your itinerary, and that is the price unless the plan changes. These are the main factors:
Distance and hours: a run to Oviedo and back versus a full day in the Picos de Europa.
Capacity: from a 19-seat minibus to a full coach.
Season: August (FIDMA, the Semana Negra festival and the Sella canoe race) and wedding weekends book up first.
Multi-day tours: driver's accommodation and, where required, a relief driver.
Tell us the headcount, dates, times and stops; we reply the same day as a rule, and there is no obligation.
Many local weddings take place at quintas, indiano mansions and cider houses in Villaviciosa, Siero or rural Gijón, 15 to 30 minutes from the seafront hotels. A coach lets guests enjoy the evening without driving.
Pick-ups along San Lorenzo beach, in the centre or in Somió.
Guests board again after the ceremony and ride on to the celebration.
An early-night run and a final shuttle in the small hours.
Bride and groom often arrive in a separate Gijón car with driver.
Gijón is a stage of the Camino del Norte; we move luggage between stages and carry walkers who need a break.
FIDMA at the Luis Adaro fairground, the Science and Technology Park and company events.
School trips and groups from the Viesques campus and La Laboral.
Away matches and tournaments, with hold space for kit.
Not at the door. Cimavilla, the old fishermen's quarter on the headland, has narrow, steep lanes, so we agree a nearby point the coach can reach, such as the marina or Plaza del Marqués. Elsewhere in Gijón we collect at the entrance.
Confirmed when you book.
San Lorenzo hotels, La Laboral, Viesques and the fairground.
Asturias Airport (OVD) at Santiago del Monte is about 40 km from Gijón, roughly 35 minutes. Your driver greets everyone together at arrivals and stows all suitcases in the hold.
Eight or fewer? Asturias Airport to Gijón transfer.
Santiago de Compostela, Cantabria, Bilbao or León with the same driver and EU rest breaks built in.
Group size, dates, times, pick-ups, stops and luggage.
A firm figure plus the vehicle we propose, generally within the day.
Secure card payment when you confirm your booking, then the chauffeur's name and phone ahead of the trip.
Group vehicles cancel free with more than 96 hours’ notice. Details in our terms of sale (Spanish).
Yes, it is our most requested excursion. Covadonga is a little over an hour and a quarter from Gijón. In the busiest months, the road to the Lakes has regulated access for groups, so when we quote we explain how to plan the day around the basilica, the Holy Cave and the lakes. Zonetransfers replies within 12 hours.
Yes. The vehicle meets your group at the cruise quay and heads for Covadonga, Oviedo, Cudillero or wherever you prefer, returning with a comfortable margin before all-aboard. Send the ship's name and call date when you enquire so we can match the programme to the actual times your ship spends in port.
Distance, how many hours you need the vehicle, its size and the date all play a part, and August plus wedding season are peak times. Rather than a rate card, Zonetransfers prices every itinerary individually. Send us the group size, dates, timings and stops and the firm figure comes back within 12 hours, with nothing to sign until you are happy.
A qualified driver, fuel and the compulsory passenger insurance required in Spain. On multi-day tours we add the driver's hotel and meals, plus a relief driver when rest rules require one. Extra stops or long waits are agreed in writing beforehand, so the figure you approve never grows on the day.
Not outside your door: the old headland quarter is all steep, narrow lanes. Instead we pick a reachable spot nearby, usually by the marina or on Plaza del Marqués, and give you the exact location in your booking confirmation. Travellers with limited mobility can tell us in advance and we will choose the nearest feasible point to where they are staying.
Yes. Gijón is a stage of the Northern Way, and we can carry luggage between overnight stops, pick up walkers who need a rest day and take the group to the start or from the end of their route. Send the planned stages and we will build the driver's timetable around them.
For August, with FIDMA, the Semana Negra festival and the Sella canoe race, and for weddings from May to September, plan weeks ahead, as larger vehicles are snapped up early. In quieter months a few days' notice normally works. Changed plans? Group vehicles can be cancelled without charge if you tell us more than 96 hours before departure.
Once you accept the quote, you confirm online and pay by card through a secure checkout. Organisations such as companies, schools or clubs can supply their tax details for an invoice in their own name. The amount is fixed unless you alter the itinerary, and no cash ever changes hands with the driver.
Give us the group size, the date and your plans. Within 12 hours Zonetransfers comes back with a firm price and the right vehicle for the job.
Over a thousand customers give Zonetransfers an average of 4.9. Smaller party? See private transfers from Gijón or a car with driver in Gijón.
