Atxondo is the municipality, while Axpe is one of its settlements. The present municipality brings together Apatamonasterio, Arrazola and Axpe, so simply entering “Atxondo” may not identify the final destination precisely enough for an address deeper into the valley.

If your accommodation or address is in Axpe, include the name explicitly so that another point within the municipality is not used as the end of the journey.
Arrazola
The valley continues towards Arrazola and the area beneath Anboto, adding a further section of road compared with the entrance to Atxondo.
FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE DURANGUESADO
The route changes once you leave the main corridor for Atxondo
A-8 / N-634 → Durango → BI-632 → Atxondo
The official Turismo Euskadi access reference from Bilbao follows the A-8 or N-634 towards the Durango area before continuing along the BI-632, past Abadiño, towards Apatamonasterio.
From there, the final address determines whether the vehicle stops near the entrance to the municipality or continues towards Axpe, Arrazola or another rural location.

The reference applies to road access to the municipality. Accommodation farther into the valley requires its own final section of the journey.

For rural addresses, the property name and full address can be more useful than “Atxondo”
Atxondo combines small settlements, meadows and traditional farmhouses as the valley reaches towards Anboto. For a transfer from BIO, a complete address makes it easier to distinguish between Axpe, Arrazola, Apatamonasterio and locations outside those centres.

There is no direct bus between Bilbao Airport terminal and Atxondo. One possible combination uses the airport service to Bilbao Intermodal, followed by Bizkaibus towards Atxondo.

The Arrazola Greenway is a walking route, not a road for vehicles
The Arrazola Greenway follows around five kilometres of the former railway line between Apatamonasterio and the area of the old mines. Turismo Euskadi states that the greenway is restricted to walkers.

If your plans start beside the Greenway, the booking should specify an address or access point that can be reached by the vehicle.
Continue on foot along the Greenway
The former railway route is a pedestrian itinerary and should not be confused with road access to accommodation or settlements elsewhere in the valley.
