Group minibus ready in Zagreb before a day trip to Plitvice.
One vehicle for the whole group, with a driver, pick-up at your hotel in Zagreb and a price per vehicle you know before confirming. The Plitvice Lakes are 135 km (84 miles) away, Varaždin 88 km and Ljubljana, over the Slovenian border, 143 km.
Minibus or coach hire with a driver in Zagreb is priced per vehicle, not per traveller, and depends on five things: the number of seats, the kilometres and hours of service, the date, whether the group leaves Croatia and whether the trip lasts more than one day. With those details we send you a fixed quote in euros.
| Factor | How it affects the price | How to keep it down |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle size | A 54-seat coach costs more than a 19-seat minibus | Pick the right size for the group, with two or three spare seats |
| Kilometres and hours | Counted from when the vehicle leaves until it returns to Zagreb | Gather everyone at one hotel or meeting point |
| Date | Advent, summer and trade fairs fill the calendar | Book several weeks ahead |
| Borders | Slovenia, Austria and Hungary require a vignette for the vehicle | Ask for the whole tour in a single quote |
| Long days | More than nine hours at the wheel requires a second driver | Spread the visits so you stay within that limit |
For groups of up to 8 a people carrier works out cheaper: see our private transfers from Zagreb.
| Travellers | Vehicle | Luggage | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 – 19 | Minibus | One medium suitcase and one hand bag each | Work teams, families, stag and hen parties |
| 20 – 35 | Midi coach | Hold for suitcases and equipment | Cultural groups, clubs, weddings |
| 36 – 54 | Full-size coach | Large hold for luggage and dismantled bikes | Conferences, school trips, tours |
| Over 54 | Several coordinated vehicles | Depends on the group | Events with departures from several hotels |
Models, seats and luggage space in our fleet. If anyone in the group uses a wheelchair, tell us when requesting a quote and we will find an adapted vehicle.
These are the outings most often booked by groups staying in Zagreb. The driver waits at each visit and brings you back to the hotel in the afternoon.
| Destination | Distance | Driving time by car | Pairs well with |

| Varaždin | 88 km (55 mi) | 1 h 14 min | Trakošćan Castle, to the west |
| Ljubljana | 143 km (89 mi) | 1 h 44 min | Lake Bled or the Postojna caves |

In summer, park tickets are sold by time slot and groups need to reserve them in advance. Give us your slot and we will plan the departure from Zagreb so you arrive with margin.
The coach drops the group at Entrance 1 or Entrance 2 and waits in the coach park. The fullest route, covering the lower and upper lakes, takes four to six hours.
Group minibus ready in Zagreb before a day trip to Plitvice.
Car driving times from central Zagreb. A coach travels a little slower, especially on national roads such as the D1.
Many groups start their trip in Zagreb and head down to the Adriatic with all their luggage in the hold. The A1 motorway reaches Dalmatia and the A6 the Kvarner Gulf.
Diocletian's Palace and boats to Hvar and Brač.
You can travel down via Plitvice.
Into Istria through the Učka tunnel.
If the group carries on as foot passengers by ferry or catamaran from Split or Zadar, give us the sailing time: we drop everyone beside the quay with enough margin to board with all the luggage.
Three capitals lie less than five hours from Zagreb. The same vehicle and driver stay with the group for the whole tour.
| Destination | Distance and car driving time | Border |
|---|---|---|
| Ljubljana (Slovenia) | 143 km (89 mi) · 1 h 44 min | Bregana, no fixed checks |
| Vienna (Austria) | 375 km (233 mi) · 4 h 3 min | Via Slovenia; Austria has applied temporary checks |
| Budapest (Hungary) | 346 km (215 mi) · 3 h 25 min | Goričan, no fixed checks |
Croatia joined the Schengen area in 2023, so there are no fixed checks, although every traveller must carry an ID card or passport. A list with each person's name and document number speeds up any check. We take care of the motorway vignettes for Slovenia, Austria and Hungary.
Croatia applies the EU rules on driving times: as a general rule, nine hours a day at the wheel, extendable to ten twice a week, with a 45-minute break after every four and a half hours. The tachograph records everything. If the itinerary needs more, the quote includes a second driver.
Passenger insurance and a clean vehicle at the agreed time.
The driver waits with the vehicle during visits.
On tours with nights away, the quote spells it out.
In vehicles fitted with seat belts, every traveller must wear one. Throughout the service, the group has 24-hour personal assistance on our emergency phone line.
For conferences and fairs we run shuttles between hotels and venues, speaker transfers and outings to company dinners.
| Need | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| Hotel shuttle to the Zagreb Fair (Zagrebački velesajam) | Several morning departures and return at closing time |
| Events at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall | Hotel pick-ups and waiting during the event |
| Events at Arena Zagreb | Meeting point away from the main exit |
| Company dinner or a Zagorje winery visit | Return trip with an open time |
| Invoicing | A single invoice in euros for the company |
For weddings, the minibus collects guests from hotels in Zagreb and takes them to the ceremony, often at a castle or country estate in the Zagorje hills, and back in one or two runs. Sports clubs and fans book coaches for matches at Maksimir Stadium and concerts at Arena Zagreb.
When the event ends, the exits jam up. We agree a pick-up point a little away from the main exit so the group can board without sitting in the queue.
In December, the Advent markets fill central Zagreb with visitors and several streets close to traffic. It is the busiest season of the year for groups in the city.
| Situation | Solution |
|---|---|
| Closed streets in the centre | Drop-off and pick-up at points with coach access |
| Afternoon and evening visits | Return to the hotel with an open time |
| Same-day trip to Varaždin or Ljubljana | Early departure to be back for the markets at dusk |
| High demand for vehicles | Book several weeks in advance |
We collect from any hotel in Zagreb where a large vehicle can stop. In the centre, with pedestrian streets and tram lines, we suggest a nearby spot with room to load luggage without rushing.
| Area | Landmark | Advantage |
|---|---|---|
| Donji Grad | Republic of Croatia Square and the National Theatre | Wide streets next to the centre |
| Kaptol | Around the cathedral | Common for guided tours of the Upper Town |
| Novi Zagreb | Arena Zagreb and the fair grounds | Open space for several coaches |
| Radnička cesta | Business hotels and offices | Quick access to the motorways |
| University area | Savska cesta and student residences | Student trips |
Franjo Tuđman Airport is about 16 km (10 miles) from central Zagreb, around 25 minutes. If the group arrives on the same flight, the driver tracks the actual landing time and waits with the vehicle in arrivals. Many groups head straight from there to Plitvice or the coast.
For minibuses, midi coaches and coaches.
You are better off with our hourly car service in Zagreb.
Book through their B2B area.
Payment and change rules are in our terms of sale. Zonetransfers customers rate us 4.9 on average in their reviews. Organising another group? We also offer minibus hire in Sofia and minibus hire in Zaragoza, and every city in private transfers.
There is no single price: it depends on the vehicle size, the kilometres, the hours of service, the date and whether the group crosses a border or stays overnight. With those details we send you a fixed quote per vehicle, in euros, which does not change even if traffic is heavy. A Plitvice trip with waiting time does not cost the same as a short city transfer.
Minibuses have 9 to 19 seats, midi coaches 20 to 35 and full-size coaches 36 to 54. For larger groups we send several vehicles leaving at the same time. The most efficient choice is the size that matches your group with two or three spare seats for coats and bags, rather than paying for a half-empty coach.
Yes, it is the most booked trip. The lakes are 135 km (84 miles) from Zagreb, about two hours by car on the A1 and D1, a little longer by coach. In summer, entry works by time slot, so an early start pays off. The driver waits in the coach park while the group explores and brings you back to the hotel in the afternoon.
Yes. Split is 409 km (254 miles) on the A1 motorway and Zadar 290 km (180 miles). Suitcases go in the hold and the trip includes the rest stops required by law. If the group continues by boat to the islands, we drop you beside the quay with margin. You can also travel down to Zadar via Plitvice on the same day.
Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and Hungary are all in the Schengen area, so there are no fixed checks, although Austria has applied temporary checks on its border with Slovenia. Every traveller must carry a valid ID card or passport, and minors without their parents need a signed consent letter. A list of the group's documents speeds up any check.
Under the EU rules that Croatia applies, nine hours a day as a general rule, extendable to ten on two days a week, with a 45-minute break after every four and a half hours at the wheel. For longer itineraries, such as Zagreb to Split with visits or a tour via Vienna, we add a second driver to the quote.
In euros, by card when confirming the booking, through a secure gateway, so no cash is needed for the driver. Croatia adopted the euro in 2023. For companies and agencies we issue a single invoice in their name, and the price stays the same even if the tour passes through Hungary, where the currency is the forint.
At your hotel if the street allows a large vehicle to stop. In the centre, with pedestrian streets and tram lines, we suggest a nearby spot with room, such as the area around the National Theatre or the cathedral. If the group is spread across several hotels, we plan a pick-up route with the exact time for each.
For Advent, summer and the big trade fairs, several weeks ahead, because many groups look for vehicles on the same dates. For a weekday trip outside the season a few days is usually enough. If the tour crosses borders or lasts several days, the sooner we have the itinerary and the passenger list, the better we can organise it.
Yes. Cancelling a minibus, midi coach or coach is free up to 96 hours before the service. If the time, route or number of travellers changes, message us on WhatsApp: if the change needs another vehicle or more hours, we send you the new price to approve before confirming. Payment is made by card when booking.
Tell us the date, how many are travelling, which hotel to collect you from and what you want to see: at Zonetransfers we reply with a fixed price per vehicle, in euros. For tours of Croatia and Central Europe or multi-day groups, message us on WhatsApp and we will plan it with you.
