Town centre and Vila Closa
This is Altafulla's main year-round centre, including the Vila Closa, the medieval old town and the streets on the higher part of the settlement.
The road journey from Barcelona-El Prat Airport to Altafulla is approximately 71–72 km and takes around 50–55 minutes. Your transfer can finish in the Vila Closa and town centre, in the seafront area around Botigues de Mar, or in Brises del Mar, where the final approach is different.
Altafulla is divided into three distinct population centres. For an airport transfer, that distinction matters because the final approach is not the same for an address in the upper part of town, by the Mediterranean or north of the main centre.
This is Altafulla's main year-round centre, including the Vila Closa, the medieval old town and the streets on the higher part of the settlement.
The maritime district is centred around Botigues de Mar and the seafront, with numerous apartments and seasonal accommodation close to the beach.
Located north of the main settlement, Brises del Mar is reached from the road between Torredembarra and the Riera de Gaià. It should not be treated as the same destination as the town centre or seafront.
Marquès de Tamarit, the former N-340, and the railway line run between the central and maritime areas. This creates two clearly identifiable parts of the town when arranging the final leg of a transfer.
The Vila Closa is the former walled medieval enclosure. An accommodation close to the castle therefore has a different final approach from a property directly on the beachfront.
The former buildings used by fishermen and traders were gradually converted into homes and summer residences. Today, Botigues de Mar remains a distinct reference point along Altafulla's seafront.
Providing the hotel, apartment or full street address makes it possible to distinguish a historic-centre arrival from a seafront destination instead of treating “Altafulla” as a single point on the map.
The main road access to Altafulla is via exit 32 of the AP-7, which connects directly with the A-7. From Barcelona Airport, the journey follows the Mediterranean corridor southwards before reaching the Baix Gaià area.
Once the interurban section is complete, the route separates towards the town centre, the maritime district or Brises del Mar. Two bookings starting at BCN can therefore have different final sections even though they share the same airport origin.
During periods of higher seasonal population, Marquès de Tamarit also carries a noticeably greater volume of traffic. The 50–55 minute journey time should therefore be regarded as an approximate road-time reference.
A private transfer is not the only way to make this journey. Direct bus services from Barcelona Airport T2B to Altafulla are available on certain days, while rail travel is also possible with a connection.
| Option | How it works | Current reference | Where the journey ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-booked transfer | Direct departure from the airport in one vehicle | ≈ 50–55 min by road | Address provided in Altafulla |
| Direct bus | T2B → Altafulla on selected services | ≈ 1 h 20 min | Service stop |
| Train | Airport → Barcelona-Sants → Altafulla-Tamarit | ≈ 1 h 40–1 h 50 | Altafulla-Tamarit station |
Current references show a limited number of services each week. Check the exact date and timetable before relying on the direct bus for an airport arrival.
The conventional railway line stops at Altafulla-Tamarit and connects the municipality with Barcelona and Tarragona. If you are travelling with luggage, children or bulky bags, the practical consideration is the remaining journey from the station to your actual accommodation.
The station does not replace the final journey to accommodation located in the historic centre or nearby streets.
Botigues de Mar and the beach apartments form a different destination area from the higher part of Altafulla.
As Brises del Mar lies north of the municipality, it should not be considered an immediate extension of the railway or seafront areas.
The right vehicle category depends on more than the number of passengers. The Zonetransfers booking form also distinguishes between large suitcases and cabin luggage, which can be particularly relevant for families, longer stays and beach groups.
A suitable option when the number of passengers and the luggage fit within the actual capacity of the selected category.
Provides greater capacity when several passengers are travelling with checked luggage, children's equipment or pushchairs.
Allows a group sharing a hotel, event or accommodation in Altafulla to travel together from BCN in the same transfer.
For airport pickups, your arrival details are provided with the booking and the driver waits at the meeting point specified for the service. Flight monitoring helps coordinate the pickup with the aircraft's actual arrival.
Once you reach Altafulla, the key information changes: your specific population centre and final address determine where the transfer ends.

The current reference is approximately 71–72 km by road, with a journey time of around 50–55 minutes. Traffic and the specific part of Altafulla you are travelling to can affect the actual duration.
Yes. Direct services operate from T2B on certain days. The current journey reference is around 1 h 20 min, although frequency is limited and the timetable should be checked for your travel date.
Yes, but there is no direct train from the airport terminal to Altafulla. One option is to travel via Barcelona-Sants and continue to Altafulla-Tamarit station.
No. They are recognised as separate population centres. Marquès de Tamarit and the railway line run between the two areas, so providing the exact accommodation address is useful when arranging the transfer.
Brises del Mar is Altafulla's third population centre. It is located north of the municipality and is accessed from the road between Torredembarra and the Riera de Gaià. It should be specified as the destination when applicable.
An airport-to-accommodation booking covers one specific journey. If your plans include Tarragona, wineries, meetings, several pickups or a vehicle for a number of hours, a chauffeur-driven vehicle may be more appropriate.
If Altafulla is not your final stop, these routes connect Barcelona Airport with nearby Baix Gaià destinations as well as Costa Daurada resorts, cities and strategic inland locations.
