Asturias Airport to Llanes: 127 km to a coastline dotted with dozens of beaches

The journey to Llanes covers around 127 km, mostly along the A-8, with a typical journey time of 1 hr 15 to 1 hr 20 mins. But Llanes is not a single stop: it has 56 km of coastline and more than 30 beaches spread between the town and a succession of villages, so your exact destination determines the final part of the journey. Indicative prices from €169 for 1–4 passengers and from €199 for 5–8.

from €169 1–4 passengers
from €199 5–8 passengers
≈ 127 km typical journey distance
≈ 1 hr 15–1 hr 20 depending on traffic and destination

Llanes is a whole coastal area, not a single stop

The municipality has 56 km of coastline and more than thirty beaches spread between the town and a string of villages: Poo, Celorio, Barro, Niembro, Nueva, Posada, Andrín, Cué, Vidiago and Pendueles. Llanes town itself — with its historic centre, harbour and Ibarrola's Cubes of Memory— is just one of these destinations. From the A-8, take junction 294 towards the N-634, and from there the final section varies completely depending on which village you are heading to.

Asturias Airport transfer to the Llanes coastline

The vehicle depends on your passengers and luggage, not just your destination

The vehicle category changes between 1–4 and 5–8 passengers; for groups, surfboards or lots of beach luggage, it is worth checking the Zonetransfers fleet before booking, because when your destination includes several coastal stops, vehicle size matters.

Some Llanes beaches are not accessible by car: the village name matters more than the beach name

Several of the municipality's best-known coves have no road access right down to the sand. A transfer can take you to the relevant village or car park, but the final section is on foot, which is worth knowing when you book.

Inland beach

Gulpiyuri

You park near Naves, less than a kilometre away, and continue on foot across the meadows for around 10–15 minutes. Cars cannot go beyond the car park: there is no road access to the beach.

No road access

Cobijeru

You leave the car near Santa María church, beside the N-634, and walk around 800 metres along an unmarked but easy-to-follow path.

Walk down to the beach

Torimbia

You can drive to a car park on higher ground and then walk down to the beach. The final section cannot be covered by vehicle.

Give us the village, not just the beach

If your day trip or accommodation is near one of these coves, provide the relevant village (Naves, Vidiago, Niembro…) when booking: the transfer will take you to the nearest accessible point and you can walk the rest of the way. This ensures the price and journey time are calculated for the correct destination.

No direct bus or train: without a car, getting to Llanes means changing services

Asturias Airport does not have a railway station, and there is no direct bus service to Llanes: you first need to connect in Oviedo or Gijón with the service towards the eastern coast. Llanes is served by the narrow-gauge railway between Oviedo and Santander, but to use it from the airport you first need to reach the rail network and coordinate your train journey.

With luggage, every change matters more in a spread-out destination

The public transport journey is airport → connecting city → Llanes → village or beach, with every leg adding waiting time and another final section. In a municipality as spread out as this, where accommodation is often outside the town centre, a direct transfer takes care of the whole journey in one go and drops you at the address provided.

In August, Llanes changes pace: San Roque and the coast at its busiest

Mid-August brings particularly high visitor numbers to the town

The San Roque festivities, held in mid-August and officially recognised as being of Tourist Interest, fill the town for several days; and in the height of summer, roads along the eastern coast and parking around the town centre can become very busy. If your flight falls during these dates and your destination is central Llanes, it is worth allowing a little extra time and arranging a drop-off point that does not depend on finding a parking space.

Specific questions about transfers to Llanes

Can you take me to Gulpiyuri, Cobijeru or Torimbia?

Not all the way to the sand, as these beaches have no road access. The transfer will take you to the relevant car park or village (for example, Naves for Gulpiyuri), and the final section, around 10 to 15 minutes, is on foot. That is why it is best to book by specifying the village rather than just the beach name.

Does the Llanes price also apply to Celorio, Poo, Barro or Niembro?

Not necessarily. The reference price applies to Llanes town, but the municipality is large and spread out; if your accommodation is in one of the coastal villages, it is best to enter the specific location so that the correct journey and fare can be calculated.

Is there a direct train from Asturias Airport to Llanes?

No. The airport does not have a railway station. Llanes is served by the narrow-gauge railway between Oviedo and Santander, but to use it from the airport you would first need to travel to a station on the network and coordinate the train, so it is not a direct journey.

Even if I am staying in Llanes town centre, should I provide the exact address?

Yes. The town centre is compact and parking can become very limited in summer; being dropped off at your accommodation means you do not have to drive around looking for a space with your luggage. Providing the exact address allows the drop-off point to be arranged from the outset.
