For a domestic or Schengen flight, aim to arrive about 2 hours before departure; outside Schengen, 2 h 30 min.
The drive takes about 2 hours, so leave at least 4 hours between landing in Valencia and departing from Alicante, counting baggage reclaim and check-in time. If you are on separate tickets, a delay on the first flight is your responsibility, so build in extra margin; for a long-haul departure, add another hour.
