The official access information for Baltzola uses the N-240 from the Bilbao area to Igorre, followed by the BI-2543 towards Otxandio. This is the key road connection for reaching the Dima area.
Allow for the final BI-2543 section
The BI-2543 runs through the municipality and continues from Dima towards Indusi. Giving only “Dima” as a destination can therefore leave the final stopping point unclear when the actual address lies further along this route.
BALTZOLA · A DIFFERENT FINAL STOP
Travelling to the Baltzola Caves involves a final section on foot
The Baltzola Caves are located in Dima, but vehicles do not reach the interior of the cave complex. Bizkaia's tourism information identifies Indusi and Baltzola as the approach points; from there, the route to the caves continues on foot over natural terrain.
- Follow the BI-2543 From Igorre, continue in the direction of Otxandio.
- Take the Olabarri-Indusi access This is the indicated reference point for approaching the Baltzola area.
- Complete the final section on foot The route to the caves continues along a dirt and stone path.

For the transfer to be arranged correctly, the vehicle arrival point should be specified at an accessible location in Indusi or Baltzola, with the remaining route completed on foot.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
There is no direct bus from Bilbao Airport to Dima
Public transport requires connections. One option combines train and bus services and takes around 2 h 15–2 h 30; another travels via Bilbao and uses the A3925 line, with an approximate journey time of 2 h 49 min. By road, the direct journey takes around 30 minutes in favourable conditions.
The A3925 serves the Bilbao–Otxandio corridor
The line passes through Dima and also stops at Indusi. It does not depart directly from the BIO terminal, so an airport passenger needs an additional connection before using it.
FUTURE CHANGES ON THE BI-2543
A planned bridge replacement could affect the BI-2543 in Dima
URA and Dima Town Council have planned hydraulic works involving the Oba and Indusi rivers, including the replacement of the existing BI-2543 bridge. Planning information published in 2026 indicated that the works could begin towards the end of the year.
What this means for a future booking
If the transfer takes place while the works are under way, the status of the BI-2543 and any temporary traffic arrangements should be checked for the travel date. Unless an impact has been confirmed for that date, no diversion should be assumed.

Dima follows the Arratia corridor rather than the routes towards Durango or Galdakao
Dima takes you into the Arratia Valley. Galdakao lies closer to the metropolitan area, while Durango follows a different route towards the Duranguesado. Eibar and Vitoria-Gasteiz are also separate journeys, even though all four destinations are within Bizkaia or its surrounding area.
