How to get from Chamartin station to the airport

The most convenient way to get from Madrid Chamartín-Clara Campoamor station to Barajas Airport is a pre-booked private transfer. Your driver is waiting for you at the station, takes care of your luggage and drives you straight to your terminal in 20–30 minutes, at a fixed price agreed in advance, 24 hours a day. If you travel light and fly from Terminal 4, the Cercanías train is the budget alternative.

Private transfer from Chamartín: the best option for most travellers

Chamartín is one of Madrid's busiest stations. If you arrive on an AVE or long-distance train with suitcases, the last thing you want is to look for ticket machines, carry bags through corridors and change trains to reach the airport. A private transfer removes all of that: you step off the train and your driver is ready to take you straight to your terminal.

Why travellers choose a private transfer

  • Driver waiting for you: no taxi queues or searching for platforms. Your driver monitors your arrival time.
  • Straight to your terminal: T1, T2, T3 or T4, with no changes or shuttle buses.
  • Fixed price agreed in advance: you know exactly what you'll pay before you travel.
  • The right vehicle for your group: 4-seat sedans, 5, 6, 7 and 8-seat minivans, and minibuses or coaches for up to 54 passengers. One vehicle for the whole group, instead of splitting into several taxis.
  • Available 24/7: perfect for early-morning flights before trains and Metro start running, or late-night connections.
  • Ideal for families and business travellers: space for luggage, strollers and equipment, and a stress-free start to your trip.

How to book

  1. Enter Chamartín station as pick-up point and your airport terminal as destination.
  2. Choose the vehicle that fits your group and luggage.
  3. Confirm your booking. You'll receive your fixed price and booking details instantly.

Other ways to get from Chamartín to the airport

Taxi: €33 fixed fare

Chamartín is inside the M-30 ring road, so the official airport fixed fare of €33 applies to any terminal, 24 hours a day. Taxis are a good option for up to 4 passengers with light luggage. Keep in mind:

  • At peak times, when several high-speed trains arrive together, the taxi rank at Chamartín can have long queues.
  • Standard taxis take a maximum of 4 passengers. Larger groups need two or more taxis.
  • There is no driver waiting for you and no guaranteed vehicle size.

Cercanías train (C-1 and C-10): the budget option for T4

The C-1 and C-10 commuter lines reach the airport in about 11 minutes for €1.70 (free with an AVE or long-distance Renfe ticket). It's the cheapest option, but:

  • It only stops at Terminal 4. For T1, T2 or T3 you must change to the airport shuttle bus, which can add 15–20 minutes.
  • You need to buy a ticket and walk to the Cercanías platforms with your luggage.
  • It doesn't run at night, so it's not an option for very early flights.

Metro: lines 10 and 8

Take line 10 from Chamartín to Nuevos Ministerios, then change to line 8 to Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 or Aeropuerto T4. It costs €4.50–5.00 (single ticket plus €3 airport supplement) and takes 30–40 minutes. The change at Nuevos Ministerios involves long corridors and stairs, which is uncomfortable with heavy suitcases. The Metro runs roughly from 6:00 to 1:30.

Is there an airport express bus from Chamartín?

No. The Airport Express bus (line 203) does not stop at Chamartín. It runs from Atocha station (Cibeles at night), so from Chamartín it isn't a practical option.

Skip the queues, changes and stairs. Your driver will be waiting at Chamartín.
