Valença sits inside one of Europe's most impressive star-shaped fortresses, on the Minho opposite Tui; inside the walls, cobbled streets are lined with linen and towel shops. When you book with Zonetransfers, your driver stands at the baggage-hall exit at Porto with your name for a direct run to Valença, from €175 for the whole car.
The transfer heads straight up the A3 to the border; in about 1 h 05 min your driver drops you inside or below the fortress, or by the bridge if you are starting the Camino. You cover about 114 km, in 1 h 05 min of driving, with up to four of you sharing a €175 fare. Zonetransfers assigns your vehicle before you take off.

Some Camino walkers start in Valença to begin in Portugal and cross into Spain on foot. Others come for the fortress and Alvarinho wine country upriver.
