Your chauffeur will collect you from your hotel or the agreed meeting point before heading to Pola de Somiedo, the administrative centre of the municipality and the main gateway to the natural park.

The tour includes a private chauffeur-driven vehicle for 10 hours, pick-up from your chosen location, travel along the park's mountain roads and waiting time at each stop while your group visits traditional mountain hamlets, viewpoints and glacial lakes.
Admission tickets to the Visitor Centre, meals and the services of an official tour guide are not included unless requested before confirming your booking. The final price depends on the number of passengers, the travel date and the vehicle required.
This is a suggested itinerary. Your chauffeur may adjust the stops depending on mountain road conditions and your preferences.

Temperatures in the mountains can be several degrees lower than on the coast. Layered clothing and sturdy walking footwear are recommended, especially if you plan to visit the Saliencia Lakes.
During winter, snow may temporarily close some mountain passes. Access to different areas will be confirmed on the day according to weather and road conditions.
As the animals live in the wild, sightings of Cantabrian brown bears or other wildlife cannot be guaranteed. Early morning and late afternoon are generally the best times to spot wildlife.
The tour usually lasts around 10 hours, as Somiedo is further from the departure cities than most other routes and the mountain roads take longer to travel.
Somiedo is home to one of the largest populations of Cantabrian brown bears, but sightings cannot be guaranteed as they are wild animals. The Alto de la Farrapona area and the upper valleys offer the best chances.
Brañas are traditional mountain pasture settlements, while teitos are distinctive stone huts with broom-thatched roofs that are unique to Somiedo. Well-preserved examples can be found in Veigas and La Pornacal.
It depends on the itinerary. The main viewpoints and the most accessible brañas require very little walking, while reaching the Saliencia Lakes involves a moderate hike.
During winter, snow may temporarily close some mountain passes and restrict access to the Saliencia Lakes. Spring, summer and autumn generally provide the best conditions for visiting the whole area.
Yes. If you choose an itinerary focused on viewpoints and the most accessible brañas, it is suitable for most visitors. Routes including the Saliencia Lakes require a higher level of fitness.
Because of the travelling time and distance, combining Somiedo with another destination on the same day is not usually recommended. It is best enjoyed as a full-day excursion.
We were lucky enough to spot a brown bear in the distance from one of the viewpoints. Our chauffeur knew the area extremely well and explained where sightings are most common. A completely different experience from the coastal tours.
The traditional teitos in Veigas exceeded our expectations. We hadn't expected them to be so well preserved. It's a long day, but well worth it if you're looking for authentic mountain scenery.
We visited in October and it was already quite chilly at the viewpoint, so I'd definitely recommend bringing warm clothing. Apart from that, the tour was very well organised and we never felt rushed.
